Music Monday: In the beginning… Genesis

I don’t have to specify that I’m talking about the band, do I?

A brand-new documentary on Genesis aired on BBC the other night, and I recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in their music. The way time has treated them made me smile; Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks are quite unchanged, just more wrinkled and completely grey respectively. Phil Collins, flat cap and all, would be right at place in the Yorkshire countryside. They have all mellowed out with age, and it was good to see they’re still good friends, even if they no longer play together.

I hadn’t realised how many of their songs I liked until I got to hear them back to back on that feature. So this is the old boys’ day, and some of their tunes that still make my toes tap.
