Selfish Saturday: Five years!

Computer_Cake_1Happy birthday to the Waffle, who turned five today! And five wonderful years they have been, too. Lots of original and derivative work, reading, sharing, and general shenanigans. Just like any decent blog should be.

Speaking of shenanigans, it’s that time of the year again. The 30 days and nights of literary abandon, known shortly as NaNoWriMo, are just around the corner. That means that, as usual, the Waffle will be going into semi-hiatus. There will be no regular columns throughout November, but I will be posting in instalments, starting on Halloween, William Godwin’s book Lives of the Necromancers. Godwin is a great figure in the gothic novel movement, but historically he is commonly eclipsed by his wife, Mary Wollstonecraft, and his daughter, Mary Shelley. The particular book, despite the antiquated style, is a fascinating read. (If you’re in a hurry, you can go get it for free and read it at your own pace.)

Business as usual will resume in December.
